New for 2019 - Badass BLU 200 Miler
Because BLU is all about runners pushing Beyond Limits, we have added the Badass BLU 200 Mile race for 2019. This race is not for the faint at heart as you either buckle big, or DNF. The race starts with the 72 hour runners on Thursday, April 4th and there is a strict 72 hour time limit. As with all our races in 2019, mid-race dropping is not permitted. Once the race starts, you own it! We will be introducing a 200 mile buckle in 2019, so for those of you who like to go really long, train-up and go for it!
Even More Fun in 2019 after Selling-Out in 2018
As veteran BLU runners will attest, there is something magical about this 7th annual reunion of ultra runners and their families. Known for being one of the best family and crew friendly races around, we have added even more family friendly activities for 2019 and to accommodate as many folks as possible, we have again rented all available bunkhouse cabins.
This year, free canoeing will be available Thursday, Friday & Saturday, while free archery will be available Thursday and Friday. Horseback riding sessions will now be available on both Thursday and Friday for a small pass-through fee of $49 per session. All registrations, with the exception of the 50K and 50M races, include on-site lodging in bunkhouse cabins and 2 full meals per day catered by the Pathfinder culinary team (this is in addition to the abundance of aid station food provided). On-site lodging for crew, family, friends and 50K/50M runners can be purchased for $45 per night during the online registration process and offered on a first come, first registered basis (minimum 2-night stay required). Two Pathfinder culinary team catered meals per day are included in the $45 fee. Extra bunkhouse spots are very limited. We will again be bringing back the portable hot tub in 2019, along with a new selection of movie classics to be played on our 100 inch outdoor movie screen. Since BLU runners have come to love snacking on snow cones throughout the race, we will be adding a Snow Cone Bar in 2019 with over a dozen flavors of freshly made snow cones, including a couple adult flavored snow comes.
There are no boundaries at Pathfinder Ranch, one of Southern California’s premier educational sleep away camps! Push beyond your perceived limits on 72 private acres of Wildlife Preserve and surrounding forest meadows situated south of Palm Springs in the San Jacinto Mountains at a comfortable altitude of 4,500 feet. Now entering its 7th year, the Beyond Limits Ultra (BLU) has established itself as arguably the most unique loop ultra event in the entire country.
What makes this two mile loop event so unique? How about a big runner sleepover where runners sleep on-site, only feet away from the course, in bunk style heated cabins with hot showers. Multi-day races are hard enough, so why not skip the frost covered frozen tent and take your breaks in comfortable warmth. In addition to running, you’ll be reliving your camping youth as you and your fellow runners and crew enjoy mixing it up with the farm animals and horses, canoeing around the lake, slinging arrows on the archery range, riding horses, and of course making s’mores by the campfire. Did we mention the course meanders all through the ranch where you can keep yourself pleasantly distracted by watching crew and friends enjoy camp activities as you click-off mile after mile? Of course you'll pass one of the most lively aid stations ever assembled every two miles - complete with a portable hot tub, a 100 inch outdoor movie screen and the ultra world's first Snow Cone Bar. While we are known for having a top of the line aid station, we augment our daily food offerings by having Pathfinder’s culinary team provide two cafeteria meals (breakfast & dinner) each day (and yes, the course runs right next to the cafeteria). Not to worry, we still cook up lunch at the aid station, as well as on-demand meals throughout the whole event and our own unique goodies like frozen grapes, popsicles, snow cones and M&M pancakes. Whether you are running the 72/48/24 hour races, or the 200 mile, 100 mile, 50 mile, or 50K races, you will be treated like a VIP by your fellow ultra running RD’s and their incredible volunteers.
And by the way, if you happen to love race bling, this event is for you! Every runner who toes the starting line receives a large medal, along with a high-end sublimated tech shirt and a goodie bag stuffed full of fun stuff. Everyone who completes 100 miles or more receives a 100 mile buckle, while 200+ mile finishers will receive the all new 200 mile buckle. This race sells-out each year, so take advantage of the best value in multi-day ultra running and register today.
